CUBITTS x marka Belvedere, Dune
Design
This model is a collaboration with the eyewear brand CUBITTS, which was born in London in 2013.
Belvedere” is an hexagon shape with a slightly thicker line design that has a strong impact. It features graphic lines and a sculptural keyhole bridge, balanced with tapered temples.
This time, we have made a special order for a frame and lens combination that is not part of the regular lineup.
Brown” lenses for DUNE and ‘Gray’ lenses for BLACK. The marka logo is also engraved on the frame.

CUBITTS is derived from Lewis Cubitt, an English architect active in the 19th century, and the brand philosophy is that eyewear, like architecture, should last a lifetime.
The symbol used on the caulking parts of the glasses was inspired by the butterfly-shaped parts used in his masterpiece architecture, King's Cross Station, which hold the materials in place.
This is the first collaboration with marka in Japan.

ACETATE
All ready-made frames are made of Matsukelli acetate and manufactured in the company's own factory in China. Some frames, such as Bespoke and custom-made frames, are produced in the workshop located in King's Cross.
デザイン
2013年にロンドンで生まれたアイウェアブランド「CUBITTS」とのコラボレーションモデル。
｢Belvedere｣はオクタゴンシェイプという八角形の形をやや太いラインでデザインされたインパクトのある一本です。グラフィックなラインと彫刻的なキーホールブリッジが特徴で、テーパードテンプルとバランスが取れたデザイン。
今回通常のラインナップには無い、フレームとレンズの組み合わせを別注しました。
DUNEには” Brown”、BLACKには”Gray”のレンズになります。またフレームにはmarkaのロゴも刻印されています。

CUBITTSは19世紀に活躍したイギリス人建築家Lewis Cubittから由来し、建築物と同じようにアイウェアも一生使えるものであるべきという思想をブランド理念にしています。
眼鏡のカシメパーツに採用されているシンボルは、彼の代表建築King's Cross駅にも採用された、資材の間を固定する蝶型の部品から着想を得ています。
今回日本国内でのコラボレーションはmarkaがはじめてになります。
