Melton fabric made of 100% cashmere. In the 1970s, Japan was engaged in the cashmere business in China for the normalization of diplomatic relations between Japan and China. Toyobo Yarn Co. of Osaka was the flag bearer for the project.
Animal hair has a structure called scales (cuticles). Wool has fine scales that tend to tangle and shrink easily, while cashmere has wide scales that do not shrink easily and the fibers do not tangle with each other. Cashmere, on the other hand, is difficult to shrink because of its broad scale, and its fibers do not easily intertwine with each other.
